8 Quick and Easy Snack Ideas

Let’s face it. Like it or not, Doritos are not a good snack. They aren’t healthy or hunger-curbing, and frankly, they make your breath stink. Lose-lose.

Its cohabitants in the vending machine aren’t much better options either.

Repeat after me:  The vending machine is not my friend.

Okay, that’s a start.

Now, let’s get to the good part. These 10 quick and easy snack ideas will keep your stomach from growling, plus have the added benefit of being healthy:

1. Apple slices with peanut butter

Apples provide fiber and vitamins while a spoonful of peanut butter adds an extra kick of protein. If you don’t have peanut butter, use slices of cheese.

2. Vanilla yogurt with frozen fruit

Frozen fruit costs less than the fresh variety and doesn’t spoil as quickly. Add some to your yogurt and you have your own homemade parfait.

3. Tortilla wraps

Toss in lunch meat, cheese, lettuce, cut-up veggies, or whatever you have available. If you don’t have tortillas, make lunch meat roll-ups instead.

4. Hardboiled eggs

Hard boil a half-dozen eggs, or as many as you’ll eat in the coming week, over the weekend. When you’re hungry, grab one, peel and eat.

5. Almonds or other nuts

Almonds are packed with nutrients and healthy fats to help keep you feeling full. The resealable bags are perfect for snacking and stay fresh longer than the bulk section nuts.

6. Fruit and nut bars

The less-processed fruit and nut bars (ex. Larabar and Clif Bar) are a good alternative to sugary granola bars. Keep one in your school bag or purse for those on-the-go hunger moments.

7. Sliced veggies with dip

Cut up cucumbers, celery, green peppers, carrots, or whatever is on sale at the grocery store. Dip in ranch dressing, cream cheese, hummus, or peanut butter.

8. Pretzels, popcorn, or baked chips

These healthier options still give you the crunch and salt you may be craving, but with a lower calorie count than their other Crunch family relatives (ahem, Doritos).
