5 Tips to Becoming a More Productive Student

There are many ways to absorb information from your college classes.  You can eat pages of your textbook, sleep on top of your notes, or perhaps the most efficient option: STUDY!

Studying isn’t most students idea of a good time, but it’s a necessary part of college life.  Follow these tips and you just might find that you enjoy studying…maybe.

1. Set aside time in your day to study.

If you schedule a time to study everyday it will help keep you from procrastinating.

2. Find motivation.

Try to envision yourself working your dream job.  If you study and get good grades, you’ll have a better chance of landing that job.

3. Make friends in class.

Having friends to study with helps keep you motivated.  They can also help explain topics you don’t understand.

4. Find a good place to study.

You should study in a quiet area away from electronic distractions.  You might want to consider turning off your cellphone, too.

5. Interact with the material you’re studying.

Try to act things out, make note cards, or develop mnemonics that help you remember what you studied.  If you simply read through your notes, you’ll probably find that you can’t recall much of what you just studied.

What other advice do you have for developing better study skills?
